Guide Video:
http://files.filefront.com/13_moe_sc.../fileinfo.html
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips and Advice:
1.) Go out from Vasburg Armory, as soon as you load, check the two groups in front of the Res Shrine. Check the image below for more details. Check the groups whether they have either a Pain hungry gaki or Skill Hungry gaki, if they do, go back to Vasburg and respawn, then check again, until the two groups i mentioned doesn't have either gakis with them.
An Example of a GOOD SPAWN:
2.) When your successful with #1, proceed on killing yourself as shown on the video! Cast your enchantments, by this time using the equipments i mentioned and with 15% dp, your health will be at 13hp.Hold ctrl and look for the scar eater, target it.Maintain your target on the Scar Eater so you'll know how to go back to him when you try to agro all three groups!
3.) When you're aggroing, constantly check the compass for new spawns. Once new red dots appear in your compass, that is an indication that a group of onis has spawned. if so, immediately activate Spellbreaker, so that you wont get shadow shroud on you. Continue aggroing all three groups. Once you're done, get close to the scar eater, recast prot and heal breeze when Spellbreaker starts to blink.Cast Scourge healing on scar eater then use Silver Armor! Watch the numbers rise and scar eater's health drop!
4.) Some people who are well aware of this type of build, use Glyph of Renewal as the elite, as this will let you recast Sliver Armor immediately dealing consistent fast damage. However that may be too heavy for Canthan Characters, as they will have to go to Perdition Rock in order to cap it! That is why spellbreaker comes in, not only does it help against onis, it's also fairly easy to cap!
5.) This tip is for a Faction character with prophecies account: So your scourge healing skill isn't unlocked yet. Do this, make sure you have at least 1k balthazar faction. Send one of your characters to the pvp arenas, talk to the priest, and unlock scourge healing under smiting prayers. Load your canthan monk, get him to Lion's Arch, and talk to sergio, scourge healing should appear in his skill list. Buy it and you're done!
NEW TIPS:
6.) Having trouble in dealing with onis? Well actually onis help alot in this farm. why? Their Fast and dual attacks allow sliver armor to work double and you will only need 2 groups of kirins, mosses, undergrowths, that being 1 near the scar eater and the other is scar eater's group itself, plus the onis of course. If you're having trouble against them, here's what you must do. Before going in with 13hp, scout the area first as 55mo. If onis do spawn, it will give you the advantage of knowing where to time your spellbreaker and go for The scar eater. So as soon as they spawn, bring them as close as you can to the scar eater, then kill yourself. Cast your enchantments, agro the first group without the onis yet, build up some energy... now before approaching the onis, cast spellbreaker, then agro the onis on your way to the scar eater... then sliver armor, scourge, then just recast whats necessary and he'll drop in one round of sliver armor!
7.) Aaah the gakis.. Their spirits are a big threat to your build, especially spirit of bloodsong and disenchantment. If you want an extra challenge then try this. i've farmed scar eater numerous times even if there are gakis around. Here's what you must do:
a.) Scout the area as a 55 for onis, if onis spawn you'll only need to agro 1 group besides scar eater's, if no, then you have to agro 2 groups.
b.) After scouting, im assuming you're already in your 13hp state. so cast your enchantments, agro the necessary number of groups, BUT agro this group far away from scar eater's group. The trick here is that as soon as the gakis notice you, they'll quickly cast their spirits, actually they cast 2 spirits. Quickly pull the groups towards scar eater, leaving the gakis casting their spirits. Once you've pulled them successfully near scar eater, the gakis will try to catch up, however they wont be able to cast spirits yet, giving you enough time to kill the scar eater in one round. if one round wont do, then there's a very big chance that you wont succeed! but with the new attributes, you'll be successful 90% of the time!
Happy Scar Eater Farming! Good Luck and Thanks! Please don't hesitate to post any comment or suggestion!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE:
Played around with the attributes recently, and found out that it's more efficient with the new attributes!

ah the sliver armor build. what a wonderful thing. this build also works with Shen The Magistrate, and Orosen too. For Orosen just make sure you die then run in from the side with the vermin. works great.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I'm aggroing the three groups, putting SB when Oni spawn, and keeping HB and Ps on.
But unfortunatly, Sliver armor doesn't last long enough to kill him then I die, take off a pice of armor for 16 health, and then its a stand off until the Oni cast Shadow Shroud.(sp?)

I don't see how this works *without* Glyph Of Renewal. One casting of Sliver Armor every 30 seconds that lasts TEN seconds (over his 9 seconds at his stated 10 earth magic) is not nearly enough to kill the eater with 1, 2, or 3 groups.
It's not even close he goes to maybe half-health, no further.

I forgot to mention this in my guide! Ok if you look at the image below, i've numbered the first 3 groups in front of the shrine. 1 being scar eater's group while groups 2 and 3 are composed of kirins, mosses, undergrowths and sometimes gakis.
There are times group #2 will not contain a gaki within the group. what you must do is agro this group towards group 1. However this won't give you enough damage against scar eater, so what you must do is to find another group, and that is group 4! You need at least 3 groups beating you up while sliver armor is active. And so, this is where you can get the 4th group.
just wait at the edge of the hill, until the 4th group comes close, once they've noticed you, they'll immediately run up the hill on the left on the other side of the bridge, and cross it to get to you, just keep them in your agro bubble until they've crossed the bridge. Once they do, pull them towards scar eater then eventually you can cast scourge healing, then silver armor!

there are exactly three keys to remember on how to make this build work:
yes without glyph of renewal it can be a pain, but manageable. The 3 keys are:
1.) You need at least 3 groups beating you up while silver armor is active!
2.) Keep Scourge Healing on him, as this will reduce his healing ability, dealing damage as he heals himself!
3.) If 3 groups are beating you up but still the scar eater won't drop, fear not, like any character in the game, this guy needs energy. Remember he uses divine boon, which of course drains an extra 2 energy from him when he casts monk spells.Sooner or later his energy will drop.Just continue to recast all necessary spells (Prot Spirit, Heal Breeze, Scourge, Sliver Armor), and he'll drop soon!

ok, tried this build ... works great, but:
1. it works without glyph of renewal, but it takes like 5 rounds of sliver armor to kill him
2. when oni spawn, you're pretty much dead ^^ shadowshroud kills you, they are nasty anyway :P
havent survived when oni appeared yet
3. @ricebox: no offense intended, but your stating is pretty strange
your 13 in heal give you a brezze regen of 8, combined with 4 of mending its 12 ... but 10 is max, and since you dont suffer from any degen, that 13 is pretty much a waste of points.
with that setup it took me always like 3 rounds to kill him ...
use that one, lasts a sec longer+ more dmg, which easily downs him in one round of sliver armor:
smiting 8
healing 9 -> 7 breeze regen + 3 mending regen -> 10 ( max ) total regen
divine 12
Prot 10
Earth 12
he still got to drop that staff for me :P ( did it now after about 7 runs .. )
but nice guide in all other aspects, ty
Edit: Just realized, btw, Blessed Aura DOES NOT work on sliver armor .. its NOT a monk enchantment
